Museum of Fine Arts of Kuzbass (Russia, Kemerovo)
An exhibition dedicated to the work of Viktor Apukhtin from Uzbekistan, “Pushkin and the Muse,” dedicated to the 225th anniversary of the birth of the great classic, was opened in Kemerovo
The exhibition “Pushkin and Muse” by the famous artist from Uzbekistan Viktor Apukhtin opened at the Kuzbass Museum of Fine Arts on June 12, 2024. The works of Viktor Apukhtin have been kept in the museum’s collections since the 80s of the last century.
The exhibition presents 25 graphic works and 4 paintings by Viktor Apukhtin - artist, illustrator, philosopher, honorary academician of the Russian Academy of Arts. The artist was born in the Uzbek Soviet Socialist Republic, currently lives and works in Tashkent. In all his performances, the artist emphasizes that he feels like he is part of a big country. The master’s works are in the collections of museums in Russia and Uzbekistan.
“In the language of images, the artist-philosopher shows an inexhaustible source of inspiration, finding it everywhere. Any object, shadow, rustle, any detail, shape, color, sound - gives rise to a form for an artist, like a line for a poet. Apukhtin's characters come to life, revealing the images of the works of A.S. Pushkin. Here is a goldfish, a green oak tree with a learned cat and a golden chain, here is a prophet who burns people’s hearts with his words, and a poet who takes off his hat to the power of words,” curator Galina Merzlikina said at the opening of the exhibition.
