Biography

​Viktor Olegovich Apukhtin was born in Tashkent in 1952, is a descendant of a famous noble family.

​Graphic artist, painter, illustrator of children's and classic world literature.

 

Since 1981 member of the Union of Artists of the USSR. Member of the Academy of Arts of the Republic of Uzbekistan. In 1977 For a series of graphic works he was awarded a gold medal and a 1st degree diploma from the Academy of Arts of the USSR and the Ministry of Culture of the USSR.

 

Victor Olegovich collaborated with the book publishing house of Uzbekistan named after Gafur Gulyam for many years; more than 20 books were published with illustrations by Apukhtin. Some of them were awarded the highest awards of the USSR.

 

Apukhtin V. O. participant of international exhibitions. His works are in the collections of the State Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow (Russia), the State Museum of Oriental Art in Moscow (Russia), the State Museum of A. S. Pushkin in Moscow (Russia), the State Museum of Arts of Uzbekistan (Tashkent), in Krasnoyarsk Art Museum (Russia), Kaliningrad Art Gallery (Russia), in private collections abroad - USA. Belgium, Japan, Italy, Germany, France. India, Israel, Brazil.

 

In 2021, the Exhibition of Graphic Arts by V. Apukhtin “Dante. An invitation to the experience” at the House of Russian Abroad in Moscow. Also in 2021, an exhibition of artist Viktor Apukhtin “Turgenev vs Dostoevsky. Christian motives in the short prose of I. S. Turgenev and the novel “The Idiot” by F. M. Dostoevsky” in the library-reading room named after Ivan Turgenev (Moscow).

 

In the Republic of Uzbekistan, the artist constantly holds exhibitions, master classes and lectures. Continues to work on book graphics.

 

In December 2023, he received the title of honorary foreign member of the Russian Academy of Arts.
